Mission Statement:

OUR TEAM

Nicky de Lane - Head Coach, Educational Facilitator and Manager 


Nicky has worked and trained in numerous countries over the years. She specializes in jumping biomechanics and helping riders overcome fears.


With regards to training of horses she prefers to work with young horses, producing them for other riders rather than competing herself.  


Biomechanical welfare of horses is one of her specialized interests and she excels in formulating personal welfare plans for individual horses as the rehabilitation of both acute and chronic conditions in equine athletes which she does with a team of vets and specialists

Bryce Wills - Coach and Trainer (Show Jumping)


Bryce has grown up in the industry, training with Deb Moore from Horse Sense and Bluemoon Equestrian since he was a child rider.


He has competed very successfully in Sanesa and young adult series. From then on he has focused on teaching and coaching where he has been specializing in competitive junior riders.


Bryce works both in house as well as servicing our external clients who keep their horses at home or at other professional yards due to travelling constraints. He also assists on our skills training program for grooms and instructors.

Deneal Van Wyk - Assistant coach and Trainer


Deneal started with Bluemoon in 2022 as a riding student and then joined our Equine Skills Program where she is busy studying towards her EQASA module 3 and 4.


 

She joined the Bluemoon Equestrian Staff recently after moving to Jhb to further her show jumping career. She is currently jumping in the 1.10 m classes on her horse Trosky that she produced herself.


She teaches children and junior riders and services our Pretoria North Clients as well as acting as a teaching assistant for Nicky in the theory lessons for our Module 1 and 2 students 


Martinez Olivier - Head of Marketing 

Martinez Olivier is the Head of Marketing at Bluemoon Equestrian, where she leads brand strategy, digital presence, and customer engagement initiatives.


With a strong passion for the equestrian industry and a focus on innovative marketing, Martinez works to grow the Bluemoon brand while strengthening its connection with riders, owners, and the wider horse community.


Known for her strategic mindset, creativity, and results-driven approach, she is committed to positioning Bluemoon Equestrian as a trusted and forward-thinking name in the equestrian world.


Gabriel Bloem - Working pupil 


Gabriel's dream is to become a work rider and instructor.


He approached Bluemoon Equestrian for assistance with achieving this goal - offering to work in exchange for experience and education.

He joined us in mid 2025 and since then has come on leaps and bounds.

He assists with setting up arenas, preparing horses, riding, yard duties, vet care and research. 

He has obtained his EQASA Module 1 and 2 and is working towards his Module 3





Dr. Jeanné Botha


Jeanné qualified as a physiotherapist prior to completing her Bachelors in Veterinary Science at Ondestepoort, which gives her an advantage when it comes to noticing minor impairments in the biomechanics and movements of her patients, and then still being able to diagnose, realign and assist in correcting such impairments

Together with the state of the art diagnostic equipment and her partnerships with other professionals, her deep understanding of the physiology of the complex systems within the body allows Jeanné to treat her patients in a holistic fashion and not merely the most noticeable symptom.

Keagan Widdall (Equi- K9) - Physio


Keagan Widdall is a SAVC-registered Veterinary Physiotherapist who qualified from Equine-Librium College in 2020. She owns and runs Equi-K9 Veterinary Physiotherapy, a mobile practice based in Johannesburg North and surrounds. She provides physiotherapy for equine, canine, and feline patients, with a focus on rehabilitation, injury prevention, performance support, and the maintenance of soundness and mobility.


Keagan has been involved with horses from an early age and has been riding since the age of three. She has competed in Open Equitation and show jumping up to 1.10 m. Her riding background, together with her clinical training, enables her to offer practical, horse-centred treatment programmes tailored to the individual needs of each horse

Wihan Ras - Body worker and bare foot trimmer 


Company Name: Soul Equine SA


Wihan works with horses from all walks of life – from the retiree to the happy hacker to those competing and excelling in different disciplines such as show jumping, dressage, eventing, endurance and western riding.


Wihan is based in KZN but does travel to JHB and surrounding areas and all other provinces.
